What curriculum does Victoria use?

Victoria teaches the Victorian Curriculum F to 10, maintained by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). It is based on the national curriculum but is a distinct version with its own achievement standards and structure. The current version is Version 2.0, launched in June 2024.

Full implementation of Mathematics 2.0 and English 2.0 is required in Victorian schools from 2025. As with any recent version change, confirm the exact Version 2.0 content descriptor and its code on the Victorian Curriculum site before relying on it in planning.

How it maps to the Australian Curriculum

Victoria labels its year levels as Levels: Foundation, then Level 1 through Level 10. A Victorian Level number matches the national Year number, so Level 3 is the same school year as Year 3 nationally. The first year of school is Foundation, still widely called Prep.

The Mathematics 2.0 strands are close to the national ones (Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics and Probability), so the topics and their year placement are broadly the same as the national curriculum. Victoria uses its own content descriptor codes rather than the national AC9M codes, so we align by topic and Level rather than by code.

Years 11 and 12 in Victoria

After Year 10, Victoria students work towards the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), issued by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). SproutSheets worksheets target Foundation to Year 10, so senior secondary is reference only. How Years 11 and 12 work across Australia.

Using SproutSheets in Victoria

Our worksheets are mapped to the national ACARA v9 Mathematics codes and our year pages use national year names. For Victoria, read Level as Year: for Level 4, use our Year 4 worksheets and curriculum pages.

Because the Victorian Mathematics strands mirror the national ones, our topic coverage transfers directly. Check each sheet against the matching Victorian Curriculum 2.0 achievement standard for the Level you teach. Maths answer keys are computed in code, so the answers are never wrong.
