Coordinates worksheets
Free printable coordinates worksheets with answer keys, the Cartesian plane, quadrants and reflections. Pick a grade below for ready-made PDFs, or generate a fresh one. Every answer is computed in code, so the key is never wrong.
What is coordinates?
Coordinates locate a point on a grid as (across, up); the Cartesian plane extends this to four quadrants with negatives.
How to teach it
Plot and read points as (across, up) , x before y , starting from the origin. Extend to four quadrants and describe moves and reflections.
Worked example
A point is at (0, 4). Move it 1 left and 1 up. Write the new coordinates.
Answer: (-1, 5)
Computed from a real worksheet, so it is correct.
Common mistake
Reversing the coordinates (up before across) and mis-signing points in the negative quadrants.
What's inside
- A point is at (0, 4). Move it 1 left and 1 up. Write the new coordinates.
- A point is at (-1, 2). Move it 3 right and 3 down. Write the new coordinates.
- A point is at (2, -3). Move it 1 left and 4 down. Write the new coordinates.
- Which quadrant is the point (-4, -6) in? Answer 1, 2, 3 or 4.
- A point is at (-3, 4). Move it 2 left and 1 up. Write the new coordinates.
- A point is at (-5, 3). Move it 1 left. Write the new coordinates.
Sample questions. Each set (A, B, C…) has fresh numbers and a computed answer key.
