What is volume?
Volume measures how much space a solid, three-dimensional object fills, counted in cubic units such as cm³ or m³. For a cuboid (box shape) you find it with length × width × height. Think of it as how many unit cubes fit inside with no gaps.
Examples
- A cube with 2 cm sides has a volume of 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 cm³.
- A box 3 cm by 4 cm by 2 cm has a volume of 24 cm³.
- Volume is measured in cubic units like cm³.
Quick facts
- Volume uses cubic units (cm³, m³); area uses square units.
- Volume of a cuboid = length × width × height.
