What is a expanded form?
Expanded form shows what each digit in a number is worth by writing the number as an addition. 347 in expanded form is 300 + 40 + 7. It makes place value clear. Zero place-values are left out, so 508 is written 500 + 8.
Examples
- 347 = 300 + 40 + 7.
- 508 = 500 + 8.
- 2,060 = 2,000 + 60.
